Something doesn't look quite right... |
|
We voted for, and were shown, the picture above. Nine months after ordering... Today I got this:
Looks OK, love the colour. But this doesn't look like the first pic to me!
Seems like someone stole the engine! The front sits a wee bit high to me. Or am I not seeing this correctly? |

PONY POWER RLC™# 11097 I just received mine, and noticed the same thing... was the casting that hard to make that they had to take out the engine? What's up with that? The next thing you know, we will be having to buy the extra parts we are missing when Mattel forgets to make the car right. PLAYINGMANTIS RLC™# 15826 That's not acceptable for a premium priced club car and whomever bought one has every right to complain. stendeck RLC™# 2026 There is an engine; but I'm pointing out the stance, just like a car with the engine out. And the fact that you can see right through the car over the wheels. JamHud RLC™# 47026 It is an "Engine Plate"
MauserBob RLC™# 35562 I noticed that on mine right away as well, but didn't think much of it until now. I guess they thought some of us might want to swap in a big-block in there. scott386 RLC™# 31282 They had to jack the car up to fit the "real riders". nspo RLC™# 18673 Nope, that's not it... ![]() crum_a RLC™# 43020 Looks like another Blue Real Riders Classic. Glad I skipped this one. ricthetic RLC™# 40862 Yes, this is ridiculous. I usually open mine, but not this one... peavine RLC™# 47814 Didn't Staffer refer to this sELECTIONs round as the "baggage" round? After seeing the pictures of this casting I think he meant it literally. HWGreg RLC™# 1111 Wow! Am I glad I didn't buy this (blue RR) "club special". Glad I only buy retooled redlines at this site — saves me a ton of $$$. Humvvee RLC™# 29205 I ordered 2 and noticed the same thing. Not 100% happy with this one. Hernan RLC™# 2524 Wow, that does look bad with the see-through stance. What happened, Mattel? Other than that the car is sweet, but not worth the money! PONY POWER RLC™# 11097 I'm sure the Mods have seen this. With 252 views so far, they have to know about it by now. Muchotex RLC™# 942 That's why I despise them showing the "Mock-up" or "E-sheet" drawings instead of showing us the real deals. They sure have been doing that waaaaaaaaay too much around here. Now I see why they do it. Show 'em a juicy drawing & send them a sub-par quality car. Come on HWC! You guys build $1 little toy cars by the millions with little or no problem, but you can't build a so-called premium car worth a flip lately. Somebody needs to buy the head of QC a clue... scaremall RLC™# 45032 Yep, saw it right away... I thought it was like my 442 Fire Chief where the wheels rub the fender, just poorly made. But it seems that everybody has this issue. Well, there were a lot of peeps complaining about the slammed/lowered look... clamjuice RLC™# 35801 Just another reason why the Greenlight memberships are increasing. I see a new HWC member join at least 3 times a week now. They give us updates! Respond to questions in a timely manner. Give us the cars we want, not the same VW over and over... Mattel better get their act together, or all of the cars they produce are going to be lower than the 7,500 quantities we've seen this year. cguth RLC™# 31111 Not only did the membership screw up on this one, the bad looks are compounded by the (light) appearance of the front end. It seems someone forgot to add (for lack of a better word) chassis bars to the design so that it doesn't appear see-through. Overall a very disappointing piece, mine looks exactly the same. Oh come on Clam, Greenlight? You'll have to convince me. This has been a very good year as far as quality and line-up are concerned. As far as the sELECTIONs? The membership in a few cases missed the Staffer, just my opinion. However it doesn't change the fact that this casting has a flawed chassis. lunger RLC™# 19475 Darn. Just took a second look at mine... and I have the same thing. If I wanted a four wheeler, it may be ok... but a V8 mustang with a hole that big? Looks like crap. I guess Mattel doesn't think any of us open the package. No way I can make that look decent in a pic from the side... and boy, does it look worse out of the package! (Should not have set this one free.) I really do not want to hear Mattel say "return them for a refund". I would just like to see them make better cars for that kind of $$$$$$$$. PONY POWER RLC™# 11097 681 views so far, and Mattel still has nothing to say about this one. 69sscamaro RLC™# 25372 What's up with the QC lately? It just never seems to end, does it? I'm not much for "Mustangs" but I do collect RLC/HWC cars and this is not one of the better ones. When are the Blue Real Riders people going to wake up for one thing and Mattel for another? I'm not a happy camper with this one! beerchamp RLC™# 21651 I just opened 1 of my 2... that is FUGLY!!! I think I'll return the other; worst RLC car I've bought in 7 years. NeoFan42 RLC™# 47296 Crazy to pay that much for a car like that. I cancelled all my outstanding orders, definitely not renewing for '09. Pugdaddy RLC™# 21153 I wasn't going to buy this car originally because of the whole Blue RR thing, but the fact that it's a Mustang persuaded me. Now I wish I had gone with my original plan. This car is horrible— not just for the hole through it, but the deco is ugly. Way too gaudy for what could have been a really cool car. I would consider using this car as trade bait but I doubt anyone else would want it, either. Very disappointed! hotrodrascal RLC™# 25975 Way too many flawed castings, or misleading advertising, and exclusives that are not so exclusive. Wake up, Mattel, or at least check in on the QC folks to see if they are still breathing because from the looks of the sELECTIONs Mustang, that department has flatlined. Maybe you admins should call a code blue. Of course, the response from Mattel is deafening in its silence. 69sscamaro RLC™# 25372 You know that Mustang rear springs wear out pretty fast. That's why it's sitting so low. gawdzilla2020 RLC™# 45916 Glad I cancelled my order when I did. KE1067 RLC™# 48532 All the RLC cars with the big (same size tires as the back) front tires look hideous. The '65 Mustang is the same way. thelastz28 RLC™# 45031 This Mustang has hydraulics up front. beerchamp RLC™# 21651
It's really bad when you can see another Hot Wheels behind the Mustang looking thru the front wheel well. crum_a RLC™# 43020 Maybe it's going to be the car used in the next Bond movie. I mean, who would think they are being watched through a wheel well? Very clever when you think about it. Teritup RLC™# 29793 C'mon people, it's not THAT bad...
billsboys RLC™# 4744 In the 60's (and probably in the 70's as well), some street racers shackled the rear leaf springs when street racing, so the car would get a better "bite" off the line. This helped to prevent the car from "squatting" before launching. It also made the car look like it had a reverse rake, with the front end nosed up. Did Mattel intend to do that with the Mustang? Probably not, but it sure brings back memories of racing with a pocket full of wrenches, and not using a laptop to dial in a car. |
