I think this is a critical time for the RLC and its continued existence, and both sides need to try to help each other and work together to solve problems because right now there have been so many issues for such a long period of time, that being on opposing sides is causing things to fall apart. It is too far gone to continue 'fighting.' Everyone must try to help the 'other side' to save something that both sides want. The site struggles to maintain over 100 members logged in daily and falls under 100 much earlier in the evening than it used to. This is a direct result of the current issues and must be seen as a serious indicator of trouble. |

Why I Fight Conflict in Sport: The Wild Card-winning Redliners versus the top-seeded Real Riders in the sELECTIONs Championship game Zillman, Bryant and Sapolsky set up a test on the enjoyment of watching tennis. They manipulated the commentary of identical play by creating three versions: 1. A commentary giving a strict description of the visible play. 2. In addition to the commentary provided in (1), two reporters gave information about the players who were described as the best of friends. 3. In addition to the commentary provided in (1), two reporters presented the players as embittered rivals who felt intense hatred for each other and sought to destroy and humiliate their opponent. The data showed that the audience who had the third version of the commentary enjoyed the game much more than in the other two groups, despite the fact that they were watching the same game. Those who thought they were watching tense and hostile play found it more exciting, interesting, and involving than the others. What brings about pleasure in sport is the conflict between individuals or teams. When we interpret a contest as a hard battle for victory, we enjoy it.
The greater the conflict, the more pleasure it provides.
When the threat
of losing becomes an impending danger the game provides a high level of suspense. If it is a tough and even game, and
the opponents are very strong, and the game is crucial, then victory in the last minute will bring a huge catharsis for the supporters of the winning team.
Conflict in Drama: Luke Clubmember leads the rebellion against the evil Imperial Darth Mattel The consequent clash of goals brings us into identification with a character. If the character has will and energy, we identify with the drive.
If the story postions the character as a potential victim, we fear that the characterís will (and ours) will be crushed.
Protagonists and antagonists represent the element of drama that breathes life into the plot, which otherwise is nothing more than a sequence of invented happenings.
